What is a Redneckist

What is a Redneckist?

A redneckist is a person who studies and practices redneckism.

Above is an example of a redneck wannabee's thought process. This bookshelf was constructed using coffee cans and three boards. (i.e. stuff laying around the house.)

I had a ton of books and folders laying around and needed a way to clean up the floor and tables which seems to collect stuff at my home.  I didn't want to spend the money or time driving 25 miles to town to buy a bookshelf, so I solved my immediate clutter problem quickly and for free using things I had around the house.   Although it looks tacky and relatively weak, it has served its purpose for two years now without mishap.

I am a redneckist, a wannabee redneck who is trying to understand what it takes to be a true redneck.

In order for me to achieve my goal, I'll have to study all there is that has redneck attached to it.

Why do I want to be a true redneck?  Very simple.  I live amongst some true rednecks.  These are some of the most practical, creative, and independent people I know.  They fear no one, they depend on no one, they are willing to fight for what they think is right and they have the experience to know what works and what doesn't.  What truly impresses me is that they are always there to help you and make no judgements.  This truly honorable class of people know about life, how we are all intertwined in the process of survival and practicality.  The challenges of survival make them the most skilled, creative and real people on the planet.

In this blog, I will share with you my research into the "redneck" culture and with your comments and help, I'll be able to identify those traits that bring me to where I want to go.

Get ready for the ride of your life.  There's a lot to see, a lot to learn, and a lot to enjoy.
